Hello, in this post I will show screenshot's and pictures from upgrading Samsung Galaxy S1 firmware from 2.2 to 2.3.3 to do that you will need aa program called Kies.

You can download Samsung Kies by clicking here!

1. Connect your Galaxy to your computer using the data transfer cable. And then it will pop-up window which will look like you can see in image called step1. (all the images are added as attachment)
When the window pop up you will need yo press Update.

2. When you have read all the information presented in next step just tick - I have read all of the above information.
Also you can choose to -Allow saving or proceed without saving.
If you tick save then the information about installation and how it went will be send to Google for a further analysing. So they can improve this service.

3. In this step you will need to select which files or data you want to back up.

4. In this step the firmware is downloading. Do not disconnect your phone.

5. In this step the firmware update is send to phone and the package is installed.

two rest of the pictures are showing the phone screen as it being updated.

well about the benefits of upgrading -

it seems my phone is slightly faster. For example all the operations are done a bit faster.

+ the new icons and how the upper menu look - is better than it was I think.

Also, the internet browsing seems to be a bit better.

But what I don't like is the new task manager. Instead of letting you clean all the programs and RAM separated they have combine them under one button now. That's kinda bad for me ...

the power button reacts quite faster and the phone as it self have quicker response time

The main point of upgrading is that you get the some bug fixes and a bit better user interface as well as faster operating.

Hi, thanks for the instructions.

I was able to upgrade my firmware and I must say that my galaxy is a bit faster so, upgrading is only for goos!

Cheers, Martin
